Would You Take 20 More Years?
For the first time, scientists have begun testing partial epigenetic reprogramming in human beings—a technology designed to make damaged, aging cells behave more youthfully. It is not a fountain of youth, and nobody is about to live to 150 because of it. But at 52, I find the question almost impossible to ignore: if science could someday give us another 20 healthy years—or perhaps 50—would accepting them be medicine, vanity… or playing God?
